The NASA supervisor is at the front line of managing the agency's
most critical resource--its employees. This course is designed
to assist supervisors by providing training on basic human resources
management skills that most will need on a daily basis. It will
provide the fundamental tools needed to recruit a skilled workforce,
to align and motivate those individual for a common purpose,
and to administer the variety of personnel programs and systems
required to manage their workforce successfully. The topics include:
- The leadership foundation
- Managing
the organization through position management and classification
- Building
and managing a diverse workforce including internal and external
hiring and associated flexibilities
- Employee relations including
performance and conduct, and disciplinary and adverse actions
- Labor
relations and supervisory responsibilities related to unions
- Recognition
and award options
- Talent management including learning
plans and coaching
- Performance Management
- Diffusing Conflict (will include module on workplace
violence)
- EEO responsibilities.

Should Attend
Individuals who are first line supervisors within two years of
being appointed to the supervisory position; or, individuals
who actively supervise staff looking for refresher training on
human resources related topics.
Length of Course
5.5 days - Sunday evening through noon Friday.
