This course covers the fundamentals of finance from both a business
school and Government/NASA perspective. The business school finance
session (approximately four hours) consists of lectures and case
studies and covers the fundamental terminology and rules of basic
accounting, financial statements and full cost accounting. This session
is designed to build on rather than duplicate the similar session
in the Business Education Program. The remaining two days focus on the role of finance
in the government and NASA.
The course includes readings before the first meeting of the course as well as
evening work assignments. Sessions the first
two days
are
from 8:00
am
to 5:30
pm and the
third day session is from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. The course faculty
includes a Finance Professor from the Darden Business School, Members
of the LARC CFO Staff, representatives from the NASA Office of
the CFO, and Financial representatives from the host Center.

Should Attend
NASA managers and leaders who have cost, budget or other financial
decision accountabilities but may not have a formal background
in finance. Positions that will benefit from the course include
technical managers, project managers, alliance managers, mission
support managers and business development and strategic planning
specialists.

Two and one half days.
